Questions

Gilroy Unified closure days, answered

When is Gilroy Unified closed in 2026-27?

Gilroy Unified School District has 34 weekdays with no school at all in 2026-27, counting holidays, breaks and staff development days. 29 of those are the kind that usually need childcare: staff development days, conference days and break weeks, when most workplaces are open. The full list is on this page, and you can add any of them to your calendar.

When does school start and end at Gilroy Unified?

The 2026-27 school year runs from Wed, Aug 19, 2026 to Fri, Jun 11, 2027.

What is a staff development day?

A day teachers work and students stay home, set aside for training and planning. California districts schedule several a year. They fall on normal working days, which is why they are the hardest closures for working parents to cover.

Where can I find childcare on these days?

Licensed family child care homes and small centers near you often have space on exactly these days, because they follow their own calendar rather than the school district's. EnrollPass lets you fill in your child's enrollment record once and then request a seat for a specific date. Booking a closure day early gives you the most choice.
